My Whirlpool warranty experience.

My Whirlpool warranty experience.

This nightmare began on the eve of April 30th when I took the ice cream out of the freezer in our seasonal camp in Maine.  The ice cream was soupy.

We checked the ice – and it was water. So we moved the items (just a couple) to our neighbors freezer and contacted Whirlpool online since it was a Sunday and very late.  The website wouldn’t let us schedule a service appointment either. The refrigerator was under a year old by days (May 3rd) and shouldn’t have been broken.  At that time, we thought it was just the freezer, but we woke up to hot air blowing in the freezer and refrigerator.  Thankfully things were still cold enough to not be spoiled, and our friend saved the day by letting us use their refrigerator.

We called for service on May 1st. And the person was kind enough to get a service man – but they wouldn’t be able to make it until the 9th.  Okay – well we got the email with the service person’s name and number and I texted that it was no longer just the freezer but the entire refrigerator.  They came the very next day.  Well, they don’t service the R600 sealed system in the refrigerator.

So, we contacted Whirlpool after he left, mid-day on the 2nd.  They contacted the other service people on their lists to ask if they service the R600 sealed system. No they didn’t, so the person escalated the ticket to a department that does searches that are wider than the immediate service area.  That would take 7 business days. And they might call us to ask if we wanted to find a repair man on our own and they’d reimburse us. I did tell them at that time, that we expected Whirlpool to do the legwork on finding someone to service their product under warrantee.  That was May 2nd.

We heard nothing for the next couple days until the 5th when a person called to ask us just that because they were having difficulty finding someone to service the sealed system.  Well, I said no thank you. We expected Whirlpool to find a service person. At that point the woman said it would be seven business days from the 5th.  We said nope – this was started on the second and that’s when this escalated process clock started, so they already had three days into that count – so they only had 4 more days before this should be escalated for product replacement. We asked to speak to a supervisor at this point and the request was denied.

They didn’t call again.  We called on Tuesday on the way home from the beach. And insisted on speaking with a supervisor. Said supervisor towed the company line that we had to wait until the 7 day service level was satisfied.  So we called on the 12th after the 7 days had expired and we did not hear a peep from the company.  The 7 business day mark was at the end of the day on the 11th.  We gave them till the end of the day on the 12th.

On the 12th, they hadn’t been successful in finding a service person who worked on the R600 sealed system.  So they needed to escalate to the Product Review team – who had 7 business days to review the case.  And you guessed it – no one called.

We called on the 23rd – and it took close to 2 hours to finally get someone who looked at the case because they were trying to tell us that they had a repair person as of the day before. Which one of the calls, the customer service person was reaching out to the repair service to confirm they worked on the R600 closed system. She didn’t think they did. And that call was disconnected before we got an answer. So another call to the Product review team and an argument with the customer service person resulted in her looking further into it.  When she came back on the phone, she said we had waited long enough and were due a replacement. And then proceeded to tell us the replacement process takes 3 to 4 weeks.

This is where we are today. She also indicated that if the replacement arrives scratched or damaged, we have the prerogative to refuse delivery. Then we’d have to call them again.  I don’t know if I am expecting another piece of garbage to be delivered to our door or not, but the idea of having to deal with the company again has my teeth on edge. Not with how they’ve treated us so far to date.

We had friends to lend a hand and the means to get a small refrigerator to hold us over, but someone that does not have either of those things is at the mercy of this horrifying process. They apologize with such empty platitudes each call that it is absolutely sickening. They profess to know how hard it is. They do not and it is aggravating that they continually offer empty apologies and still do nothing to help until their process SLA is fulfilled. Going 2 months without a working refrigerator is outrageous in this day and age in the United States.

What is even more sickening is having a company that pushes out a product that has no one to service it and offers a warrantee that the company must go through this process to service. They knew on the second that no one in the service area worked on this sealed system, yet they drew this out another 21 days in the hopes that we would drop it. This is an atrocity for a company as big as Whirlpool. And it is a slight to all consumers who are lulled in by the once great product name. And this is not just something we are going through – it is all over the posts on social media.

Whirlpool pushed out a product with a manufacturers warranty that they CANNOT support and they make the customer jump through hoops to get service or replacement.

I will return to continue this nightmare in three weeks if we haven't heard from the company.

Until the next episode of this nightmare - Ciao.

2023 Winter Releases

Considering I haven't written a blog post since December, there's a lot I need to catch you all up on. Like Shadows & Fate which is coming out on February 7th and will be in Kindle Unlimited!  My contribution is Pack Magic. This set is packed with some amazing fantasy romance from authors like K.N. Lee, May Sage, LJ Swallow and Melle Amade to name a few.  Pick it up today!

She’s a hybrid alpha scorned by her pack, until he arrives.

Daughter of a tribrid and a flame-touched alpha werewolf, Erica Young’s course in life should be set. Except no one wants a phoenix-werewolf with a taste for blood to be their alpha.

When the head of the werewolf council shows up with a possible candidate to take her place in the pack, sparks fly.

Logan Blaez, the prodigal son of the council head, is willing to challenge Erica for the role of alpha, even if that means a fight to the death. Until he lays eyes on her.

Now he wants to claim Erica as his mate and rule as her alpha.

Too bad Erica isn’t willing to submit, or give up her birthright.

Another big release is all ten Fractured Fairy Tales in this lovely package. The hardcover is out now, but the ebook is being released on February 7th as well! If you haven't read my fairy tales, getting the set will save you a whopping $10 versus buying all ten ebooks!

Speaking of deals, check out Savage Magic!  Young Blood is my submission to this Free Paranormal Romance set.

And I have been busy making my series collections into hard covers.  As of this particular moment, I have ten hard covers out in the wild and two more should be coming by the end of February.

The next release that is concrete on my list isn't until October.  But it is part of a shared world that you'll hear more on in subsequent blog posts.
Until next time,
Ciao.

Rituals & Runes Anthology Release AND J.E. Taylor Author Interview

The authors of the magical Rituals and Runes Anthology (R&R) are thrilled to present you with our author interviews about the swoon-worthy books included in our box set.

Today, we are excited to present, J.E. Taylor who will talk about her novella, Jasmine!

Author:
  J.E. Taylor

Book: Jasmine, A fractured fairy tale.

R&R: Hi, Ms. Taylor. Thank you for joining us today. As your contribution to the Rituals and Runes Anthology, you've chosen to write Jasmine, A Fractured Fairytale, a story inspired by Arabian Nights.

What inspired you to choose this theme and what aspect of Arabian Nights did you base your story on?

Ms. Taylor: I started my fractured fairy tales four years ago and I originally was going to do eight - at least that is how many covers I ended up getting. Red, Cinder, Brave, Tangled, Frozen, Snow, Spindle and Belle.

And then my cover artist did a premade that sparked an Aladdin retelling in my head (inspired by Arabian Nights).  But like some of the fairy tales, I spun it on its head and made my genie a female who fell in love with her master.

Each book has a theme of either Shifter or Magic.  And now I have a total of ten because I also found a wonderful Hook cover that will be coming next week.  It's paranormal romance, so there are HFN or HEA endings, unlike some of my urban fantasy books which can be ambiguous.

R&R: Oooh, that sounds so juicy and fun. I know a lot of fans love a fairytale flipped in its head! And I love how you tied into our theme relating your story to both magic and breaking the rules.

Tell us something about Jasmine that isn't in the blurb. Also, what genre is the book?

Ms. Taylor: Jasmine is cunning and smart and does not quite get a man who doesn't make wishes out of selfish wants. That is what she is used to. So she doesn't quite know what to think of Ali.

R&R: Awesome! Jasmine sounds intriguing and I can’t wait to find out what happens between her and Ali. I’d like to know more about Jasmine but I’ll make it challenging.

Describe her in only three words.

Ms. Taylor: Magical, beautiful, and smart!

R&R: Score one for the strong and intelligent female character. How about you tell us more about what makes your main characters tick?

Ms. Taylor: Jasmine must follow the rules set for genies or she will be demolished. Ali wants his kingdom restored to what it once was.

R&R: Your story sounds so exciting, like your characters get in some sticky situations, and have huge challenges ahead of them. I love all the mystery and big stakes. It makes me want to find out what happens.

How about a few questions about you. Do you listen to music when you write? If so, does your book have a play list?

Ms. Taylor: Not usually. Usually, my husband has sports on the television and I'm just typing away as he watches.

R&R: That’s funny! Well, we do what works.

What genres do you write?

Ms. Taylor: Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Romance, Suspense, and Horror.

R&R: That’s a fantastic variety. Tell us, what books do you have coming out that are not involved in the anthology?

Ms. Taylor:
My last book in my new Shades of Night Trilogy is coming out today, October 4th! Shades of Night Trilogy is an urban fantasy romance series about a vampire hunter who has a bad night and all the chaos that ensues.

I also have another fractured fairy tale coming out next week.  Hook, the tenth and final Fractured Fairy Tale of mine is coming out on October 11th.

R&R: Exciting! You really give readers a lot to look forward to! Those sound fun and filled with mystery. Now for our fun bonus question. Tell the readers, would you rather be in a room full of snakes or spiders?

Ms. Taylor: Snakes.  I'd befriend them all. And funny you should have snakes as an option - because there is a scene in Jasmine with a snake. :)

Spiders - I'd need to burn down the entire house.

Thank you so much for joining us today. It was a pleasure having you with us and hearing about your wonderful projects.

Please enjoy the blurb and an awesome excerpt from Jasmine. You can also find out more about Ms. Taylor and where to find her!

Blurb:

There are three rules all genies must obey: No killing. No raising the dead. And above all else, never fall in love.

I have been granting wishes to the most deplorable of humans for thousands of years. So, when Prince Ali releases me back into the world, I’m not prepared for a selfless man who isn’t an absolute bastard like all the others before him.

His stepfather is another story. The new sultan carries out his rule with an iron fist. His return to barbarian ways leaves the kingdom cowering with fright, for the new sultan finds joy in screams of fear and pain.

When Ali comes to me with an impossible wish, I must decide whether to follow the rules, or break them and be banished to my lamp forever.

Excerpt:

He groaned and moved again. His hip rubbed the lamp with his motion.

I laughed at the irony. He hadn’t freed me on purpose. I drifted down and crossed my arms on the edge of the outcrop he laid on, mere inches from him.

“Psst,” I whispered to get his attention.

His head turned in my direction, and his eyes fluttered open for the briefest of seconds before his eyelids fell again. But it was enough time for me to see eyes of bright emerald under those dark lids. His profile revealed a beauty that men usually don’t carry. He was all high cheekbones and supple lips, with a crop of dark hair that hung over his forehead. His nose was neither too skinny nor too broad. His form was lithe but muscular, with broad shoulders that tapered to a thin waist and an ass right out of heaven’s mold.

He was perfection incarnate, and I sighed heavily, rustling his hair with my breath.

His eyes slowly opened and met mine. His eyebrow cocked and he timidly pushed himself onto his elbows.

“You are on a ledge,” I said in case he decided to roll to check out his surroundings.

“Are you an angel?” he asked in a groggy voice.

I let out a hearty laugh and raised myself up so I filled up the cavern above. Expanding enough to make his eyes as wide as the cave’s entry used to be.

He tracked my movement with something akin to awe filling his features, making his slack-jawed stare that much more amusing.

“I am a genie, and you have freed me from my prison. Therefore, I shall grant you three wishes.”

He rolled back, pressing my lamp into the dirt wall.

“Just don’t ruin my home, please.” I waved behind him.

“But I thought I gave the lamp to my stepfather.” His forehead creased in confusion.

I put my hand on a crumbling pillar next to me and used my magic to raise it as high as the one that had once held the decoy. With a wave of my hand, another imitation lamp appeared on the pedestal. “You mean this shiny piece of crap?”

He nodded and felt behind him, finally pulling my real lamp out. It was as black as night and his rubbing of the side revealed my golden seal embedded in the onyx container. He stared at it and slowly pushed himself into a sitting position so he could glance at his predicament. The shelf he sat on was not big enough for him to maneuver much, and it was a straight drop to the fiery pit below.

As if sensing a possible meal, the earth belched a fiery bubble.

The Devil's Daughter

by C.A. King

Ghost Hunters had it wrong.

The Johnson brothers were living in the limelight, seeking out proof of the paranormal in front of the public eye. Fame, fortune, and success came hand-in-hand with evidence. Answers were worth their weight in gold. The trio had no idea they were asking all the wrong questions... until she appeared.

Pretty dresses and jewels meant nothing when all she wanted was respect. The moment Vallenna spiralled down a black hole, life turned upside down. It was the chance she’d been waiting her whole life for.

Born to rule two realms, but accepted by neither, the devil’s daughter is determined to leave her mark on both. Can the brothers stop her diabolical plans with only charisma and raw animal magnetism at their disposal?

I was diagnosed with clinical depression after the loss of my mother, father and husband within three years of each other; all to cancer. 24/7 in-home care, coupled with the loss I felt, left its mark on my psyche.

Depression takes up a lot of my life. Reading and writing are the only things I have found that help (in connection with regular medication), even if only for a short time. To escape to a different world can make a big difference in my mood in real time.

To put things in perspective, when I was at my lowest point, I couldn't open mail, talk on the phone, or even drive to the store. Walls of sadness surrounded me. As they closed in, tears would fall. There didn't need to be a reason or trigger.

People ask me why I started writing. My answer is simple: I wanted to create a world into which other people with similar problems could escape. I wanted to share the one place that had helped me for many years.

I have always said that as long as one person finds a little bit of happiness out of my books, I am, in my opinion, an accomplished author. The same is true for every writer out there. Please don't ever let anyone tell you different.

I read books as well as write them and have visited the worlds many different authors have created. Those worlds not only make me feel better, but give me the strength to face real life again. I want to thank everyone who writes—I want them to know they are making a difference.

Fast forward to today...

Rituals & Runes Anthology presents C. A. King Author Interview!

Looking for a fantastic read? All your favorite sexy creatures of your dreams are waiting for you in Rituals & Runes, a tantalizing collection of paranormal romance and urban fantasy tales. Angels, Demons, Shifters, Vampires...Oh My!

And if you wanted to hear about the books before they come out, we’ve got you covered. Read on for an author interview with C.A. King as she discusses, The Devil’s Daughter. BTW, can only get it through the anthology!

Author: C.A. King

Book: The Devil's Daughter

R&R: Glad to chat with you today. We’re looking forward to this interview.

What inspired you to write about the characters in your book that is in the anthology?

King: A family member was actually involved in filming a ghost hunting type show. My mind went in a rather different direction following a few what-ifs.

R&R: Ghost hunting shows are the best! And that’s such a creative way to come up with a concept. Sometimes the inspiration strikes so nicely.

What made you take the leap and become a writer?

King: Writing was an escape from depression and the trials and tribulations of tragedies in my life.

R&R: Books can be a great escape for both the writer and the reader. Writing is very special.

If you had to name a pet after one of your characters, which character’s name would you use, and what type of pet would it be?

King: I probably wouldn’t. Names, whether in my stories or for pets, are very important to me. Each needs the perfect one or I’m not satisfied.

R&R: Understandable. Fur babies can be so special, as are our stories.

What is your favorite type of world-building to create? Magical or urban fantasy or real-world etc?

King: Magic! I love magic. The possibilities are endless.

R&R: That makes total sense. Magic does have infinite possibilities.

What job would your FMC have in the real world?

King: Oh! She’s a devil so world-ruler? It would at least be a power position, considering her abilities.

R&R: LOL! Love it! She seems like a ton of fun.

Was your writing process any different for this story versus your other books?

King: I think this is one of the easier stories to write. It flowed from the moment I sat down right through the end.

R&R: That’s the best! Glad to hear it.

What books do you have coming out that are not involved in the anthology?

King: 2022-23 are years of the anthology for me. I have multiple anthologies and multi-author shared world books coming out, including some for charities.

R&R: Are you a morning person or a night owl?

King: Night, please.

R&R: Readers have A LOT to look forward to regarding The Devil’s Daughter and your other books. Thanks so much for talking with us! Continue on for more tidbits about The Devil’s Daughter.

Excerpt:

“Possibilities?” He scowled, pushing the rolling chair he was seated in out from behind a desk. “What possibilities? Are you saying you saw something in the pilot we missed?”

“I am,” Natalie agreed. “I think you should watch it again.”

He rolled back. “Okay. What am I looking for?”

Natalie pointed over his shoulder. “There.”

“What?” Jack shrugged.

“You tell everyone sometimes it takes a while for entities to speak,” Natalie explained. “But then it’s as if you forgot that part right after.”

Jack sighed, chewing on the end of a pen. “Still not getting what you want me to see.”

“The words the device answers,” Natalie huffed. “What if they aren’t just random? String them together.”

“Yes. Please. Help me. Get out. Wall. Idiots.” He arched a brow, glancing at her profile.

“And?” The pen landed on the desk. “What am I supposed to do with this?”

“Please help me get out of wall,” Natalie read off. “I heard the ‘of’ before ‘wall.’ Listen to it again, if you want.”

“Are you telling me, you honestly believe, something is stuck in the wall?” Jack shook his head, trying to wrap it around her line of thinking. “That’s sort of stretching it, don’t you think?”

“Yeah,” she answered. “And when you didn’t understand it took a while to form a complete sentence it called you three idiots.” Her voice rose. “And I fully agree.”
