Steve Williams is getting a face lift...

Yes, my novels in the Steve Williams series are getting a face lift! And it's more than just newly branded covers.

The earlier books in the series have undergone some transformations as well.  I took some of the feedback into consideration and softened some of the more intense scenes. The subject matter is still disturbing - after all, we are dealing with serial killers - but some of the more unsettling scenes have been modified.  I'm sure I will still offend some readers, after all, the subject matter itself elicits very strong reactions.

If you really like the current covers, you might want to pick up the paperbacks now before the big reveal! You never know, the current covers may end up being a collectors item one day.

Stay tuned for previews and the exact release date for the series, including the boxed set.

In the meantime, for those e-book-centric individuals, Dark Reckoning - the first book in the Steve Williams Series - is free.  You can find it on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Itunes, Smashwords, Sony, Kobo and a few other outlets!

Have a lovely weekend and stay tuned!

Until next time,
Ciao

Valentine's Day...

I'm not a big fan of Valentine's Day.

There. I said it.

In the middle ages, the holiday morphed into the holiday of love and early on, that meant flowers, candy and hand written notes to express one's love.

Now-a-days, this has become such a commercialized holiday that I pretty much ignore it. I love getting flowers and chocolate, but really, it doesn't need to be on Valentine's Day when florists jack up the prices of bouquets just because they can.

A handpicked daisy from a field would be more romantic. Especially, since I live in the northeast, where finding a daisy at this time of year is impossible.

A hand written note would mean more than a card bought in the story.

Chocolate - well, there's never anything wrong with chocolate, dark chocolate specifically. :)

So what are you're thoughts on St. Valentine's Day?  Fan or not-so-much?

Thanks for swinging in.
I do hope you have a happy Valentine's Day, whether you buy into the holiday or not!
Until next time,
Ciao.

Introducing.......Messiah

An Ancient Prophecy...
A forbidden love...
Now, there’s nowhere to run.

André's abilities have always marked him as special, but fulfilling an ancient prophecy is enough to have him ostracized into the cosmos. Love was his motivation for preventing his parent's execution, now in Earth's refuge, love is his undoing again.

The Commander's daughter is off limits, but this kind of love is destiny, forcing Katrina and her alien paramour to elope.

Word of André's survival reaches his home planet when his image is broadcast across the universe. This time, his very existence may well trigger the destruction of a planet, his haven, Earth.

* * * *

Remember when I said I was re-branding Dome Warriors?  Well Messiah is the result. This will be available everywhere as of February 1, 2014!

If you miss that superhero chemistry between Clark Kent and Lana Lang in the show Smallville, you will LOVE Messiah.

Thanks for swinging in,
Until next time,
Ciao.

Re-branding... an exercise in futility or fun...

I've taken a look at my backlist lately and decided some of my books needed facelifts.  In most cases, this meant seeking outside help in the form of a copy editor or cover artist.  In other cases, I learned to do some fun things with Gimp (a free photoshop program).

While I can't highlight the copy editing updates the way I can with covers, I can let you know that Dark Reckoning, Georgia Reign, Crystal Illusions and Saving Face have already been cleaned up.  All my more recent books (The Night Hawk series and The Death Chronicles) have already undergone a thorough copy edit, so those should be clear of most grammatical issues.  I have come to the conclusion that I am sorely comma deficient, but the wonderful ladies that I procure, are a wiz at cleaning up my prose.

The latest re-branding is the complete overhaul of Dome Warriors, including new title, new cover and new blurb - which I will be revealing soon, but in the meantime, I'll share a couple significant cover updates that I've rolled out in the last couple weeks...

BEFORE                                                                 AFTER

My Baby Grew Up - by Jason Halstead

My Baby Grew Up

In later 2012, Jason Halstead (that's me) wrote and published a fantasy book called Child of Fate. Since I am Jason Halstead, I'll stop talking about myself in third person – it's creepy. Child of Fate came out of nowhere for me and was honestly little more than an experiment at first. An experiment I hoped would do well because I had a lot of ideas of where to go with it.

By March I was selling hundreds of copies in a month. Yes, hundreds. It was amazing. I quickly wrote book 2, Victim of Fate, and then followed it up with Silver Dragon to cap off the Blades of Leander trilogy. People wanted more though, so I began a second series called the Order of the Dragon and it grew to four books (all available now).

What's it about? A group of young adults, kids still by modern standards, that are forced to grow up fast by their environments. Marauding monsters, international plots and intrigue, and behind it all a menacing threat with an agenda that goes far beyond the dreams of farm boys and princesses.

Child of Fate is still flying off the virtual shelves these days, but what has me really excited is that after almost a year of working on it, the audiobook version is complete and available!

Now I've done audiobooks before. In fact I think I have five others out and more that are being worked on presently. Child of Fate isn't like any of those. It's not that it has some special sentimental place in my heart or anything, it's just a game changing book. I have to credit the narrator for that, Sean Wybrant. Sean did things with his voice for each character that made me laugh or gasp in amazement. Then when that wasn't enough (there are some talking fantasy monsters involved), he turned on the special effects and made them even more amazing. He blew me away, and his performance forced me to offer him the second book in the series.

So if you're in the mood to listen to an epic fantasy story told with such variety and skill that you can close your eyes and feel like you're there, please check it out. Just don't try that if you're listening to it while driving (the closing your eyes bit). I promise you won't be disappointed!

#SALE! Celebrating the season with a Sale!

Hi all,

Happy Holidays!  I'm putting the first book in my three most popular series (Night Hawk Series, Games Series and The Steve Williams Series) on sale for $0.99 from now until Monday, January 6th.

Selling your soul has never been so charming and Mark throws in a little something to sweeten the pot, his girlfriend Naomi.

Sentenced to death at the hands of a demon, Naomi Hawk has a firsthand lesson in despair and betrayal in Mark’s deal for fame with all the trimmings. Deep in the clutches of the underground brotherhood, Naomi's light is coveted for the Master's gain.

When she slips and falls eighty stories from a precarious ledge, Naomi resigns herself to the inevitable impact and death by shattered bones. Before she can escape her demons in eternal slumber, something sinister plucks her from the plummet, stealing her out of the night to sacrifice her forever to the shadows.

Imprisoned in bottomless darkness, Naomi thirsts for justice… and revenge.

Until he snatches sexy stock jock Jessica Connor, Ty Aris happily followed his stepbrother’s orders, producing some of the most coveted black market porn and snuff films on the street. But the day he grabs her in the parking lot, his life becomes a living nightmare.

Jessica foils his plans, fires his passion, and frustrates the hell out of him. She never gives in to his demands, his pleas, or his desires, and yet a psychic bond claims his soul and melts the iron walls around his heart. His obsession sparks a fierce rift when Frank wants to start filming. Ty stalls with any and every excuse in the book, fueling Frank’s fury, but he knows it’s only a matter of time before he loses this game.

With the clock ticking, he scrambles for escape options.

Options that won’t land him in jail... or worse... a captive in Frank’s sadistic prison.

A sadistic killer stalks the secluded college town of Brooksfield, New Hampshire. With bodies piling up and rumors of the murders being part of sacrificial hazing rituals, the FBI plants Special Agent Steve Williams in a fraternity at Brooksfield University. His investigation takes a ninety degree turn into the bizarre when he’s introduced to Jennifer, a clairvoyant co-ed who swears the killer isn’t human.

Steve considers the plausibility of the extraordinary, the unspeakable, even the inconceivable, when his notebook starts bleeding cryptic messages. Messages that indicate Jennifer is at the heart of the darkness in Brooksfield.

When she describes her latest vision, a trail of violent deaths, including his, Steve asks the million-dollar question:

Is Jennifer trying to help... or is she actually the one responsible?

Cover Reveal for the Night Hawk Trilogy!

Trinity Rising is coming out later this week, and considering it is the third book in the Night Hawk Series, I will also be releasing the trilogy by December 15th, as well.  The Night Hawk Trilogy will be out in both e-book and paperback!

The single titles all have a depiction of Naomi, so with the trilogy, I did something a bit different....I chose to highlight Damian...

NIGHT HAWK (Book 1):
Sentenced to death at the hands of a demon, Naomi Hawk slips and falls eighty stories from a precarious ledge, resigning herself to the inevitable impact. Before she can escape her demons in eternal slumber, something sinister plucks her from the plummet, stealing her out of the night to sacrifice her forever to the shadows. Now, Naomi thirsts for justice… and revenge.

TIGRESS (Book 2):
Naomi's immortality is nullified, making her vulnerable to the ones who consider her their conquest. If she wasn't already walking over the hot coals of misfortune she would be obsessed with the next ambush. The shadow vaccine is hell in a syringe, the antidote turning Naomi’s blood into a lethal elixir, rendering her toxic to all vampires, including Damian.

TRINITY RISING (Book 3):

Damian’s mortal world begins to shine when fatherhood hits his horizon, but plans for a bright future disintegrate when Lucifer comes to claim their Trinity child, playing dirty by framing Damian for murder. Now, Damian and Naomi are on the run from both Lucifer and the law. One wrong step and they could trigger Armageddon, or worse, the hope for our future could fall into Lucifer's greedy grip.
